Sensory play and crafts are intended to be a shared experience for the youngest children and adults; this is how they most meaningful and safe. Children under age 3 should always be carefully supervised throughout any sensory play or craft-making experiences. While all of sensory media in monthly boxes are taste safe and/or colored with non-toxic dyes and paints, do not encourage your child to eat contents. Sensory items can be choking hazards and are should be taken to put all items away when play is finished for the moment so that younger children and animals cannot access them unattended.
Grab your coffee, pull up a (kid-size!) chair and enjoy interacting with your child as they flex their imagination, work their fine motor skills and take it all in through multiple senses! I promise all of your guidance and hard work now will be worth it when they're older and playing at this more independently with even richer, more complex play.
